The essence of female figure painting for me is “sphere”. Female body consists of soft spheres and if I can find them, my works will be 70% OK.
Her cloth and long hair cover the soft sphere and makes attractive drapes and stream lines. Once you find the beautiful shapes, you have no choice but to express on a canvas.
So if you would like to be good at painting women, you need to practice sphere or something round. It contains the essence of female figure.
The image of this underpainting and the image of apples of EYE CATCH is different things but in the same physical phenomena.

Underpainting “Lady Y”

女性像の描くときのキモは「球体」かと思うております。デッサンの視点で申し上げると女性の身体はどのパートも柔らかい球体で構成されているようなものでして、もしそれらを捉えることが叶いましたら7割方成功したようなものでございます。お洋服も長い髪の毛も皆それら球体を覆うことによって美しいドレープや髪の流線型を作ります。一旦そのような美しいものを見てしまったら、もう描かずにはいられなくなりますでしょう。
ということで、もし女性像を美しく描きたいとお思いになられましたら、モデルさんを目の前にして描く前に、何かとにかく丸いものをたくさんデッサンしてください。石膏の球や楕円体は色気はありませんが、最も厳しい幾何形ですので練習にはうってつけです。しかしながらスーパーには売っておりませんので、みかん、りんご、もも、ボール、卵、そういった日常のものでも結構です。こちらの「（仮称）Y嬢」とアイキャッチにございますりんごは全く違うモチーフですが、全く同じ物理現象の空間に存在していますので、描くときの理屈は同じ。りんごを描くように女性を描き、女性を描くようにりんごを描きます。
